Artist Statement:
I am experimenting with a different approach this year with my flowers. I want them to be more vibrant and alive. I will use acrylics consisting only of Mars Black and Titanium White. I am doing this in the hope that I will draw the observer into the picture so they can see the beautiful life reveled in the petals and leaves without the intrusion of other colors. I want the structure of the flower to entice the observer to see things they may never have seen before. My exhibit this year is a solo exhibit at the Western Reserve Bank in Brecksville, OH. July – September 2012

Artist Statement:
My interest in dance started when I took dance lessons as a teenager. Dance, as an expression of emotion, has always been in my thought since then. Now my subjects are dancers from my past who still inspire me now. By involving dancers in my painting, I feel the freedom they express and they give me the freedom to express myself through them. I think I have always used dancing as a way of being free. When I paint my dancers, I enhance their freedom by adding wings to allow them to break free from the prison of gravity. The beauty and the fantasy that wings bring to my work I believe create a new type of freedom of the dancers. I work with acrylics because it also allows me the freedom to create a work as thick as an oil painting or as thin as a watercolor. I challenge myself to develop and enhance the same meaning and beauty that the dancers produce with there bodies.

I love vintage, these ladies remind me of days when women wore hats and gloves and elegance was the order of the day. Hope you enjoy these ladies.
